The story of Vistosi: a journey between ancient tradition and innovation

Vistosi's roots date back to 1585, in the tradition of Murano blown glass. With over five centuries of history, the Gazzabin family, the founders of the company, laid the foundations for a unique legacy in the field of glass art. The turning point came after World War II, when Gino and Luciano Vistosi began producing lighting fixtures, initiating collaborations with great 20th-century designers such as Gae Aulenti and Angelo Mangiarotti.
In 1989, the acquisition by the Moretti family transformed Vistosi into a craft industry, combining tradition and innovation. Since then, the company has introduced innovative materials, such as lead-free glass, and advanced technologies like hot spinning. Icons like the Giogali and Jube collections, awarded international recognition, testify to Vistosi's continuous evolution, which today is synonymous with excellence in Made in Italy lighting design.

A unique experience

With the launch of the Vistosi Virtual Museum, the company takes an important step into the metaverse of light, blending tradition and innovation in a one-of-a-kind digital experience. This project was developed by the design studio atelier oï, with which Vistosi has a long and deep collaboration. The team designed an architectural concept that merges the historical heritage of the island of Murano with the avant-garde of design, creating a virtual space that respects the construction and aesthetic rules of the Venetian island where the historic glassmaking of the Moretti family originated.

The transition from a paper design to a fully virtual museum was made possible through collaboration with a hub of vertical competencies that integrated expertise in marketing, digital immersivity, and multimedia content. The museum experience was created with incredible attention to detail, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to offer an immersive, multi-device, and interactive experience.
The journey inside the Virtual Museum unfolds along a central "boulevard" crossed by the waters of the lagoon, creating a continuum between the interior and the exterior. More than eighty Vistosi collections are displayed in this virtual gallery, accompanied by interactive content such as product videos, technical information, and guided tours by a Personal Assistant who helps users discover the collections and select products.
Additionally, users can virtually visit the glassworks, listening to the sounds and observing the craftsmanship that constitutes the company’s authentic know-how. The experience is enriched by an outdoor area that incredibly recreates the landscape of Murano, with its colorful houses and brackish waters.
A project of this scale took almost two years of research and development, involving over 20 professionals, with the creation of 1,800 renders, 90,000 3D frames, and more than 150 360° points of view. The result is an experience that not only showcases the products but tells the story of a company that projects its cultural heritage into the future through the language of the digital world.
